What should I tell my doctor before receiving Xeomin injections?
Before treatment with Xeomin, you should provide your doctor with any and all information about your current medications (including vitamins and herbal supplements), health conditions, and previous treatments. It is particularly important to tell your doctor about any allergic reaction or side effects associated with any botulinum toxin in the past, and whether you have been treated with a neuromodulator product in the past.
How does Xeomin work?
As with other neurotoxins, Xeomin’s active ingredient is botulinum toxin type A. It acts on nerve endings of muscles to prevent them from contracting. By reducing muscle contractions, this injectable also temporarily reduces frown lines between the brows, as well as wrinkles in the forehead and crow’s feet.
If BOTOX stopped working for me, will Xeomin work?
One of the advantages of Xeomin over other neurotoxins is that Xeomin is a “naked” molecule that does not contain protein additives, as BOTOX and Dysport do. In some rare cases, a person develops antibodies to the proteins in BOTOX, after which the product stops working for that person. As Xeomin contains no protein additives, it can work for you if BOTOX has stopped working.
Can Xeomin be used to lift the eyebrows?
Yes, when it is strategically injected into specific muscles around the forehead and eyes, Xeomin can be used to achieve the appearance of a brow lift or an eyelid lift.
How soon will I see results with Xeomin and how long will they last?
You may begin to see visible smoothing of frown lines and wrinkles as early as three to four days after treatment. Most people see results in less than one week. Results may last for three months or longer.
